The United Arab Emirates has issued a strong condemnation of a drone attack that targeted its Consulate General in Iraqi Kurdistan. The incident, which occurred on Monday, resulted in material damage to the consulate but, fortunately, no casualties were reported.
In an official statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE emphasized that attacks on diplomatic missions represent a serious violation of international norms and laws. The ministry specifically referenced the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which provides for the immunity of diplomatic premises and personnel.
The UAE government has called upon both the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the attack. They urged authorities to identify those responsible and to take appropriate measures to ensure accountability.
Furthermore, the UAE reiterated its firm stance against such acts of violence, which it views as attempts to undermine regional security and stability. The statement underscored the importance of safeguarding diplomatic missions and personnel in accordance with established international laws and conventions.
