Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) reported on Thursday that its facilities were targeted in two separate drone attacks. The first incident occurred at the Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery, which is operated by the Kuwait National Petroleum Company. This attack resulted in a limited fire at one of the operational units, although KPC confirmed that there were no injuries and that the fire was quickly contained according to established safety protocols.
Later the same day, KPC announced a second drone strike at the Mina Abdullah refinery, also managed by the Kuwait National Petroleum Company. Similar to the first attack, this incident led to another fire at the facility. KPC emphasized that all necessary precautionary measures were implemented to ensure the safety of workers and to secure the site following the attack.
The incidents highlight ongoing security concerns in the region, particularly regarding the vulnerability of critical infrastructure to drone attacks. KPC’s swift response and adherence to safety standards were noted as key factors in managing the situation effectively.
As investigations into the attacks continue, KPC remains committed to maintaining operational integrity and ensuring the safety of its personnel and facilities. The corporation has not disclosed any further details regarding the perpetrators or the motivations behind the drone strikes.
