The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has issued a strong condemnation of the recent attack attributed to Iran on the Habshan gas facility and the Bab oil field in the United Arab Emirates. Jassem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, the Secretary-General of the GCC, characterized the assault as a blatant act of terrorism that undermines regional stability.
Al-Budaiwi highlighted that such aggressive actions by Iran demonstrate a blatant disregard for international conventions and the principles of good neighborliness. He expressed concern that these escalating hostilities pose significant risks not only to the security of the region but also to global economic interests.
In his statement, the Secretary-General reaffirmed the GCC’s unwavering solidarity with the UAE, emphasizing the organization’s full support for any measures taken by the UAE to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability. He underscored the notion that the security of GCC member states is indivisible, indicating a collective stance against threats to any member nation.
The GCC’s response reflects a broader concern regarding regional security dynamics and the implications of such attacks on international relations and economic stability in the Gulf region.
