Minister of Electricity and Energy, Engineer Adnan al-Kaf, engaged in a virtual meeting on Monday with British Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Sharif, to discuss various issues pertinent to the electricity sector in Yemen. The discussions focused on the current service conditions and explored avenues for enhancing cooperation in the energy field.
During the meeting, both parties addressed significant challenges facing the electricity sector, including technical issues that the Ministry is actively working to resolve. The dialogue also highlighted efforts to expand renewable energy initiatives and attract both local and foreign investments, with the support of the United Nations Development Programme.
Minister al-Kaf expressed gratitude for the United Kingdom’s ongoing support for Yemen, emphasizing the need for further assistance to the legitimate government. He underscored the importance of international cooperation in restoring state institutions and alleviating the hardships faced by citizens due to the ongoing crisis.
The British Ambassador reaffirmed her country’s commitment to supporting the Yemeni government and enhancing investment in the electricity sector. This meeting reflects the continued collaboration between Yemen and the UK, aimed at addressing the pressing energy needs of the nation.
Additionally, Minister al-Kaf acknowledged the support from Saudi Arabia for Yemen, particularly in the electricity sector, highlighting the importance of regional partnerships in overcoming the challenges faced by the country.
