Planning Minister Engages with UNDP on Strategic Intervention Plans and Future Collaboration

In a recent meeting held in Aden, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba engaged with Zeina Ali, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Yemen. The discussions focused on reviewing the UNDP’s intervention plans and exploring future cooperation aimed at enhancing sustainable development efforts in the country.

The meeting was attended by Omar Abdulaziz, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning for the International Cooperation Sector, along with UNDP specialists. Participants reviewed the progress of various ongoing projects, including initiatives in fisheries and fish landing site development across several governorates. Other key topics included institutional capacity-building, economic development through value chains, and support for small enterprises.

Dr. Al-Zouba emphasized the critical role of UNDP’s initiatives in fostering development pathways and improving essential services in Yemen. She pointed out the urgent need for sustainable development projects that effectively address the country’s current challenges. The Minister highlighted the importance of aligning UNDP’s interventions with national priorities and government plans to ensure that the outcomes directly benefit the Yemeni population.

The discussions reflect a commitment to advancing collaborative efforts between Yemen’s government and the UNDP, aiming to create a framework for sustainable development that meets the needs of the citizens while addressing the broader socio-economic challenges facing the nation.
