The United States military has announced the destruction of key facilities belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Iran, including command and control centers, air defense installations, and missile and drone launch sites. This development comes as heavy military operations involving both US and Israeli forces against Iran enter their fourth consecutive day. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has reported that over 1,250 targets have been struck in Iran, and 11 Iranian ships have been destroyed, although no evidence has been provided to substantiate these claims.
In the ongoing conflict, CENTCOM confirmed that six US service personnel have lost their lives due to retaliatory attacks from Iran, which included an incident where three US F-15E fighter jets were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti forces during an Iranian assault. Fortunately, all crew members ejected and were safely recovered. Additionally, reports from the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA) indicate that five members of the IRGC’s air force and navy have been killed in US-Israeli strikes in the central province of Bushehr.
As the military actions escalate, explosions have been reported throughout Tehran, with Israeli air forces targeting Iran’s air defense systems and personnel operating these systems. Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee stated that operations included attacks on radar systems and missile launchers. Concurrently, Israel has also conducted strikes in Beirut, Lebanon, targeting positions associated with Hezbollah, resulting in significant casualties.
The United Nations has expressed deep concern regarding the impact of these military operations on civilians, particularly children. UN officials have condemned attacks on civilian infrastructure, including schools and hospitals, and have called for an immediate cessation of hostilities. Reports indicate that an attack on a primary school in Minab, Iran, has resulted in the deaths of at least 165 schoolgirls and staff, highlighting the severe humanitarian implications of the ongoing conflict.
US President Donald Trump has indicated that military operations could extend beyond the initially projected timeframe of four to five weeks, suggesting a prolonged engagement in the region. As tensions continue to rise, the international community remains watchful of the developments and their potential ramifications.
