The Council of Ministers has approved the draft budget for the fiscal year 2026, as presented by the Supreme Committee for Budgets and the Ministry of Finance. This decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held in Aden, the temporary capital, and was chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Shaya Zindani.
In addition to the main budget, the Cabinet also approved the draft budgets for independent units, annexed units, special funds, and economic units for the same fiscal year. The comprehensive budget plan is designed to address national priorities while aligning with available resources.
The draft budget aims to ensure the regular payment of salaries and wages for both administrative and military sectors, finance essential services, and support social protection initiatives. It is structured to promote financial sustainability and stability, enhance public revenue mobilization, and improve resource allocation efficiency towards national priorities.
Prime Minister Zindani emphasized that the budget approval signifies more than just a routine financial procedure. He noted that it reflects the state’s commitment to exercising its sovereign powers, underscoring the importance of strategic planning of public resources and responsible spending priorities. The approach is grounded in principles of discipline and transparency, moving away from reactive crisis management.
