In a significant development, the Council of Ministers convened in Aden to approve the government’s work program and strategic priorities for 2026. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Shaya Zindani, who outlined the government’s commitment to addressing pressing economic and social challenges facing the nation.

The approved program aims to achieve economic and social stability, alleviate citizen hardships, ensure timely salary payments, and protect the national currency. It emphasizes the need for rationalized spending and aims to provide a minimum level of economic certainty to foster stability across various sectors.

The program identifies six strategic priorities, including enhancing political and security stability, extending state sovereignty, and achieving economic recovery. It also focuses on maintaining the sustainability and quality of basic services, ensuring equitable access, and improving institutional governance through digital transformation and adherence to the rule of law.

Dr. Zindani stressed that the government’s agenda is not merely theoretical but represents a national commitment to the people and international partners. He highlighted that the program is grounded in the broader framework of the 2025-2026 economic recovery plan and aligns with the Presidential Leadership Council’s directives on economic reforms.

The Prime Minister further elaborated on the government’s strategies to enhance economic stability by controlling public spending, increasing revenues, and supporting the central bank’s role in safeguarding the national currency. He emphasized the importance of restoring financial balances, curbing inflation, and protecting citizens’ purchasing power.

Additionally, Dr. Zindani reaffirmed the government’s dedication to improving essential services such as electricity, water, health, and education. He noted that enhancing the operational efficiency of service institutions and rehabilitating infrastructure would be prioritized, particularly in areas most affected by economic challenges.
