U.S. Government Advises Immediate Departure of Citizens from Yemen Amid Escalating Tensions

The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh has issued a security alert advising American citizens in Yemen to leave the country immediately due to escalating security tensions in the region. The advisory emphasizes the urgency for U.S. nationals to take necessary steps for their departure if they wish to do so.

Effective March 3 at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time, the U.S. government confirmed its readiness to assist American citizens in safely returning from Yemen. The embassy has recommended that individuals utilize commercial flights available from the city of Aden, although it cautioned that the number of flights is limited and may be impacted by the prevailing security situation.

In addition to the departure guidance, the embassy has urged U.S. citizens to stay informed about security updates and to exercise caution while planning their exit from Yemen. The situation in the region has prompted several nations to issue similar travel advisories, reflecting a broader concern for the safety of their citizens.

The embassy also reassured American citizens that consular services are available around the clock to assist with departure arrangements and to respond to emergencies. This ongoing support underscores the U.S. commitment to ensuring the safety of its nationals in Yemen amid rising tensions.
