Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense has reported the successful interception and destruction of six Iranian drones in an operation conducted east of Riyadh. The announcement was made on Sunday, with Brigadier General Turki al-Maliki confirming that earlier in the day, eight additional drones had been intercepted after they entered Saudi airspace.

The ministry also disclosed that on Saturday evening, another drone was destroyed in the same region. In a related incident, a ballistic missile aimed at Prince Sultan Air Base fell in an uninhabited area, resulting in no casualties, according to the defense officials.

In light of these developments, Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman called on Iran to exercise “wisdom and avoid miscalculations.” His remarks followed a meeting with Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir, where the two discussed Iranian assaults within the context of their joint strategic defense agreement. The minister emphasized the importance of halting actions that could destabilize the region.

Reports indicate that Saudi Arabia has been increasing direct communication with Iran in recent days, aiming to mitigate the escalating tensions in the Middle East. This diplomatic initiative has garnered support from several European and regional states, highlighting a collective interest in maintaining stability in the area.
