Qatar Thwarts Overnight Iranian Incursion Amid Evacuation Announcements

Qatar’s defense forces successfully intercepted missiles targeting the country in two separate waves early Saturday morning, as regional tensions continue to escalate. The defense ministry confirmed that the missile interceptions occurred around 2:00 AM and again at 5:45 AM, causing loud explosions that startled residents in the capital, Doha.

In response to the missile threats, Qatar’s interior ministry announced precautionary evacuation measures for residents in specific areas. Notifications were sent through the National Alert System, advising those affected to seek safe alternative accommodations. Reports indicate that evacuations took place in Msheireb Downtown Doha, a central district that houses government offices and a Google hub, as well as parts of Education City, which is home to several branch campuses of U.S. universities.

Authorities have not disclosed the exact locations subject to the evacuation measures, urging the public to rely on official sources for information and to adhere to instructions from the government. The precautionary measures come amid heightened security concerns following a warning issued by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The warning, disseminated via social media, advised employees of major U.S. technology companies in the Gulf region, as well as nearby residents, to evacuate their offices and tech centers.

As the situation develops, Qatar is activating its emergency preparedness plans and reassuring residents about the stability of supply chains. The recent events underscore the increasing tensions in the region, prompting both military readiness and public safety measures.
