Yemen’s Ambassador to Japan, Adel Al-Sunaini, engaged in discussions with Takagi Kei, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Japanese Parliament, on Tuesday. The talks centered on enhancing bilateral relations, with a particular focus on parliamentary cooperation between the two nations.
During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Sunaini emphasized the historical ties that exist between Yemen and Japan, commending Japan’s unwavering support for Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council and its efforts towards the country’s security, stability, and unity. He reiterated Yemen’s dedication to strengthening its strategic partnership with Japan and expanding collaboration across various sectors deemed essential for development.
The ambassador provided an update on the current situation in Yemen and the broader region, highlighting the government’s ongoing initiatives aimed at restoring normalcy and improving essential services. He expressed optimism regarding increased Japanese support, which aligns with Japan’s ongoing commitment to fostering peace and stability in Yemen.
Key areas of potential cooperation discussed included health, education, electricity, road infrastructure, and reconstruction. The talks also touched on capacity building and technical vocational training programs, which are crucial for supporting Yemen’s sustainable recovery efforts.
