In a significant diplomatic engagement, Abdulrahman Sheikh, the Minister of State and Governor of Aden, met with Catherine Corm-Kammoun, the French Ambassador to Yemen, and Thomas Friedrich Schneider, the German Ambassador, to discuss enhancing development cooperation in the region. The meeting took place on Thursday and focused on key development and service sectors that are critical for the local population.

During the discussions, the three officials reviewed existing areas of cooperation and explored opportunities to expand these initiatives. A central topic was the implementation of a priority needs matrix for Aden, which aims to bolster the capacity of local authorities in addressing pressing challenges. This framework is designed to facilitate a more effective response to the region’s developmental needs.

Vocational education emerged as a key focus area, with discussions emphasizing the necessity of modernizing curricula to align with the demands of the labor market. This initiative aims to equip young people with essential skills, thereby fostering sustainable economic opportunities in Aden. Additionally, the meeting addressed the importance of supporting higher education, particularly at Aden University, to enhance the quality of academic outcomes.

Governor Sheikh expressed appreciation for the support provided by France and Germany, highlighting the importance of expanding partnerships to improve public services and living conditions in Aden. He underscored the ongoing efforts by local authorities to stabilize the region and overcome existing challenges, while also calling for sustained international support.

In response, the ambassadors reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to aiding development and stability efforts in Aden. They emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships with local institutions to support the ongoing development process, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering progress in the region.
