Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense reported a drone attack targeting fuel tanks at Kuwait International Airport on Sunday. The incident occurred at dawn, prompting a swift response from the Kuwaiti Armed Forces, which stated that they dealt with a wave of hostile drones that had breached the nation’s airspace.

In a statement shared on its official account on X, the ministry confirmed that the attack was aimed at critical infrastructure, specifically the airport’s fuel storage facilities. This follows a series of interceptions by the armed forces, which had successfully neutralized seven drones in northern and southern regions of the country the previous day. While these interceptions resulted in material damage from falling debris, no injuries were reported.

The ministry clarified that the explosions heard in various areas were due to air defense systems engaging with ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones. This highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by Kuwait in safeguarding its airspace and critical infrastructure.

In a related effort, the Kuwaiti National Guard announced that it had successfully shot down a drone on Saturday while assisting the Ministry of Defense in securing vital sites. This action underscores the commitment of the Kuwaiti security forces to enhance national security and counter potential threats to the country.
