In a recent meeting held in Aden, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Shadi Basurah engaged with Bert Scott, the Director of the Office of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, to discuss the current situation in the country. The discussions focused on the latest developments and the importance of enhancing coordination to support stability and economic recovery efforts in Yemen.
During the meeting, the challenges facing the Yemeni government were highlighted, particularly within the telecommunications and internet sectors. Minister Basurah emphasized that the ministry is aligned with the government’s priority program, which aims to implement economic, financial, service, and institutional reforms necessary for recovery.
The minister also outlined the ministry’s vision and strategic plans for advancing the telecommunications and information technology sectors during this critical phase. He acknowledged the significant role played by the UN Envoy’s Office in promoting peace and stability in Yemen and expressed the government’s willingness to facilitate the work of the envoy’s team.
