ADEN, Yemen’s Ministry of Transport announced on Thursday that operations at Aden International Airport have resumed normally after a temporary suspension caused by a Houthi missile attack that targeted the airport on Wednesday evening, underscoring the continuing escalation of the conflict and its impact on civilian infrastructure.
The attack came shortly after Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree called on individuals inside the airport to evacuate immediately, claiming that a Saudi military cargo aircraft carrying weapons was present at the facility. The incident marked another development in the ongoing hostilities that have increasingly affected civilian and service facilities across the country.
According to a statement issued by the Yemeni military, several civilians were injured when two ballistic missiles struck Aden International Airport on Wednesday evening. Military officials said the attack was the sixth assault targeting the airport since the latest escalation of fighting began.
Meanwhile, airstrikes reportedly targeted Houthi positions in several areas of Taiz and Al-Jawf governorates, as well as the Red Sea coastal city of Mokha in western Yemen, according to field sources.
The sources said airstrikes hit Houthi positions in Jabal Al-Armah in Jabal Habashi district, west of Taiz, while additional strikes targeted sites in the Dhahih and Warqah mountain areas of Al-Masrakh district, south of the governorate.
In Mokha, airstrikes struck a newly established security headquarters used by the Houthis and surrounding areas, field sources reported. No immediate information was available regarding casualties or the extent of the damage.
Further north, sources said airstrikes also targeted Houthi sites in Al-Hazm district, the administrative center of Al-Jawf governorate, in northeastern Yemen.
