The Yemen Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong condemnation of an Iranian attack on the United States Embassy in Riyadh, labeling it a serious violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and a breach of international norms. The ministry’s statement, released on Tuesday, emphasized that such attacks on diplomatic missions contravene the Geneva Conventions and the Vienna Conventions on Diplomatic and Consular Relations, which protect the inviolability of diplomatic premises and personnel.

In its remarks, the ministry highlighted a pattern of Iranian aggression, citing previous attacks on civilian infrastructure and vital facilities in several Gulf states, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman. These actions, according to the ministry, reflect a systematic effort by Iran to destabilize the region and threaten international peace and security.

The Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Yemen’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its neighboring states, expressing support for their right to take necessary measures to ensure their security and protect their citizens, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter. The statement also praised the effectiveness and readiness of Saudi armed forces and air defense units in responding to such threats and safeguarding civilian infrastructure.

Furthermore, the ministry warned that Iran’s continued aggressive actions, including its support for armed groups like the Houthi militia, pose a direct threat to regional stability and international maritime routes. It called for a unified response from the international community to address and curb Iran’s destabilizing behavior in the region.
