The newly appointed governors of Lahj, Abyan, and al-Dhalea took their constitutional oaths on Saturday before President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, who serves as the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC). The ceremony marked a significant step in the governance of these regions, with the governors being Murad al-Halimi for Lahj, Dr. Mukhtar al-Rabbash for Abyan, and Maj. General Ahmed al-Qubba for al-Dhalea.
Following the oath-taking, President al-Alimi held separate meetings with each governor to outline key priorities for their respective regions. He emphasized the need for the governors to intensify their efforts in enhancing the presence of state institutions and improving basic services, which are crucial for establishing security and stability in their areas.
The President highlighted the importance of collaboration among the governors, the government, and central authorities to implement an economic and administrative reform program. He called for increased transparency, measures to combat corruption, and the development of infrastructure, particularly in sectors such as electricity, water, roads, health, and education.
In addition to these priorities, President al-Alimi stressed the necessity of unifying security and military decisions across the three governorates. He urged the governors to work closely with the Ministries of Defense and Interior to ensure security, control smuggling, and address illegal migration.
The governors were also tasked with tackling issues related to the encroachment on state lands, dismantling illegal collection points, and facilitating the movement of citizens within their jurisdictions. These directives aim to foster a more stable and secure environment for the residents of Lahj, Abyan, and al-Dhalea.
