In a recent meeting in Aden, the Minister of State for Women’s Affairs, Dr. Ahd Jaasous, engaged with Bert Scott, the Director of the Office of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, to discuss strategies for enhancing women’s empowerment in the country. The dialogue focused on strengthening coordination and collaboration to address the challenges faced by women in Yemen, particularly in the areas of qualification, political training, and economic opportunities.

During the discussions, Dr. Jaasous highlighted the significant obstacles women encounter, especially in terms of gaining access to education and economic resources. She emphasized the ministry’s alignment with government priorities aimed at national recovery, which includes implementing policies designed to improve women’s status and increase their involvement in development and decision-making processes.

The Minister underscored the necessity of intensifying partnerships with international organizations to bolster programs that empower women. She acknowledged the crucial role played by the UN Envoy’s Office in supporting the peace process and facilitating women’s participation in these efforts.

Bert Scott reiterated the commitment of the UN Envoy’s Office to collaborate with the Yemeni government in promoting initiatives that empower women. He emphasized the importance of ensuring women’s effective participation in various sectors, including peace and recovery efforts, as part of a broader strategy to foster stability and development in Yemen.
