MUKALLA – In a significant move to enhance military preparedness, Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Dr. Taher Al-Aqili convened an extensive meeting with the command of the Second Military Region during a recent field visit. The primary objective of this meeting was to assess the current state of military units and to discuss strategies for improving combat readiness.

The discussions during the meeting centered on various operational challenges faced by the Second Military Region, including the specific requirements of military units and necessary measures to bolster both logistical and combat capabilities. The aim is to ensure that the armed forces are fully equipped to fulfill their national responsibilities effectively.

During the visit, Al-Aqili received a comprehensive briefing from the leadership of the Second Military Region regarding the performance and discipline of troops, as well as the key obstacles they encounter. He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to addressing these challenges and providing the necessary support to strengthen the armed forces.

The Defense Minister expressed his admiration for the sacrifices and professionalism displayed by the officers and soldiers of the Second Military Region. He acknowledged their resilience and dedication, stating that their efforts are a source of pride for the nation.

This visit marks Al-Aqili’s first engagement with the Second Military Region since assuming office, highlighting the ministry’s commitment to field engagement and direct oversight of military readiness. The meeting was attended by Second Military Region Commander Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al-Yamni and other senior defense officials, who collaborated on plans to enhance performance and coordination among military units.
